Spatial concepts. Directionality

I don't think that you have thought about this question some time.

Up and down, left and right, forwards and behind, north and south and east and west are concepts that just make sense in the Earth because the gravity. We know that up is if we look to the sky and down is if we look to the ground, we also know where is the left and where is the right.

What happens if we were in some where of the space? Directionality doesn't make sense. There isn't up and down, left or right,... because in the space there isn't gravity and we are into the infinite. Where is up and down?

Imagine that you're floating in the void and you think about up side you look up but if you spin upside down and you look up again the up will be where before was the down side because there is no gravity so it's not possible to determine where is the up or down side.

In order to know where is the up or down, left or right, forwards and behind we should know before the dimensions of the space, but as we know the space is infinite so we cannot determinate the tridimensional directions. We don't know whether we are going to the left or to the right, if we are going up or down or if we are moving forward or backward.

If we were travelling into a ship we wouldn't know if we are going to the west or to the east because there isn't north or south, east or west because they are directions in the Earth because of gravity.

In fact in the Earth some similar happens, we look up if we look to the sky (opposite direction to the gravity) but maybe right now we are with our heads down but we don't realize cause of gravity or maybe we are horizontal but we don't realize cause of gravity.

If Earth is attracted by sun's gravity we can say that down will be the sun and  up whenever we get away from the sun (so we can orientate ourself respect left and right, forward or backward in the solar system) but if we stop being attracted by celestial body's gravity the directionality doesn't make sense.

Is it interesting? Isn't it?

Extraterrestrial life?

Life from outer space... ¿Yes or no? In my opinion...definetely YES
It's egocentric to think that just on the Earth exist all the possible forms of life in an Universe that actually it's expanding, it has 14.000 million years of existence and it is into infinity space. We don't know anything about universe (if there is more inorganic matter, if there is more chemical elements, if there are other physics laws,...)

Believers defend that we alone in the Universe, that God just has created us...Why is not able that God has created life in other planets? Why we want to be the only child?

Scientists say that Earth has the perfect conditions to life existence (in relation with gravity in order to prevent to being flat or to fly away, the sun at particular distance that gives us the necessary energy but not to close to burn us, the oxygen that was created by anaerobic bacteria that started to make photosynthesis,...) these conditions are optimal for kind of life that we have here but they could be lethal to other kind of extraterrestrial life, in fact when oxygen was created it was poison to other bacteria until some of them got used to consume it and they became aerobics.

Is it possible that other form of life get used to other kind of conditions since their beginning? YES, it is possible that other beings exist and they don't need water or oxygen, maybe they consume nitrogen or carbon or maybe other chemical elements that we don't know their existence.

I think it's not logical think that there are just kind of extraterrestrial life, as I always say in the infinite there are infinity possibilities and it's sure that there are a lot of kind of lives in other galaxies, some more developed than others, some primitive forms, some that being originated just now, other that will be originated in the future, some more intelligent than others, some that are becoming extinct and others that have become extinct.

A lot of people believe in extraterrestrial life and a lot of them believe that they have visited us and visit us still, they believe that they helped to build Egyptian pyramids and visited other so developed  civilization like Mayans that have hieroglyphs where appear ships and astronauts and they objective was the sky where Gods came from.

People that assure have seen extraterrestrials describe them in the same way: tall, thin, pale, with big heads, with big slanted black eyes and dilated pupils, long fingers, without hair,...

I don't think that they are extraterrestrial, I think they are future humans that have learnt how to travel to the past (well maybe they are extraterrestrial if they have gone to live to another planet, but anyway they are developed humans, maybe homo sapiens sapiens lol) it is possible that they travelled to ancient Egypt or where Mayans were and they believed that they were Gods from the sky and they gave them some knowledge)

That's the human evolution, we are more tall, with bigger brains, with less hair,... and if the sun will weaken we will need bigger eyes and with dilated pupils and our skin will be pale.

Does it make sense? For me yes.

Infinity. The infinite universe

Today I want to talk about the concept of  "infinity" about space and time.

I don't know if some time you have ever thought about time as a rectilinear line:

<---------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
       Past                                      Present                                    Future

It is said that time is infinite. It is pretty easy to think about the infinity of the future but if we think about the infinity of the past it becomes complicated.

If the time is infinite it means that it has always existed. Always... thousands of million of million of million of million of million... of million years lol and more millions without stopping. Time always exists, it always has been. The notion of infinite doesn't fit in human mind.

The same happens about the space...never mind if there is matter or not... the void of the space has always existed and will exist forever, indefinitely.

It should be an incredible spectacle. Isn't it? When the universe just was void and the time went by. Lost pulses in the space. At least, without anyone contemplating it.

Faithful people will say... the time and the space were created by God, but God should be somewhere before. Isn't it? Maybe in another dimension... it is possible that if God was in another dimension, God created this dimension (in this case time and space are not infinite relating with the past, they have their start and who knows if also will have an end if the Creator eliminates this dimension) but if God was in another dimension. Has been this God dimension eternal (infinite time and space)?

Believers defend the God existence and they say that God is perfect and infinite (there are other magnificent qualities like omnipresence and omnipotence) but if God have always existed...God have always been (Sorry that's the moment when I get into a loop and I can't see the exit)

So the space is infinite (however there are new theories defending that the space withdraws and if you go through one end you will appear at the opposite end). Let's suppose we defend that the universe is like a box, obviously the box is finite surely this box is into somewhere. Isn't it? There is more space. Although we could close more and more boxes, greater and greater ones of universe they will be into bigger spaces. So the space is no finite.

I want to mention my first post where I said: Has inorganic matter always existed? Never mind if it was all united before Big Bang (who believes in this theory) if all was void... Where does that matter come from? Is it finite? (Scientists defend that inorganic matter is finite (just the matter that exploded at Big Bang is the existent matter in the universe) I don't think so, if the space is infinite there can be thousands of Big Bangs in other far places of the Universe (so far places at millions of millions of trillion and more millions kilometers of here)

As I always say...there are infinite possibilities into the infinity. All fits into the infinity. This thought causes me a lot of doubts (life out the Earth, repetition of lives, unknown matter, unknown laws of physics,...)

We just can see the edge of universe, the cosmic edge (this edge belongs to 14.000 million years) it doesn't mean that there is nothing after this edge (On the contrary! Of course there are more) but the light that was originated at Big Bang is going over the space and until now it just can travel up to there.

Senses trick you

The world arrives to us through our senses. The only way we have to perceive the reality is through senses. We are obliged to believe what senses show to us, we believe that we see is what it is. There is nothing further from the truth.

We see what our eyes let us see (but it is not all that it is possible to see, for example a dog has more visual acuity than us), we can listen but we can't listen all the sounds that exist (a bat has more auditory range than humans so bats can listen more things than us). The real reality can't be completely noticed through senses so we just perceive sensorial reality. Sensorial reality is incomplete and probably mistaken. We don't perceive real reality. This is for sure.

Let's watch an object. What colour is it? Is it green? What about a friend who is watching the same object? Green, also. Isn't it? How can we know that we are watching the same tone? How can we know that we are watching the same colour if your friend since he was a child he learn that this colour is green? Does that make sense?

Let me explain it,

Since your friend was a child he knows that this colour is called green (maybe he sees this colour like a bluish colour) but since he was a child, everybody tells him that this colour is called green so he has grown up calling this colour green (imagine: he sees colour blue like greenish colour, he will identify this colour as blue in spite of he see this colour green, because to him this colour is called blue although if you could use his eyes you will say: it is green!). How do you know that people see the same colour or tone as you are seeing right now?

There is another example. I think it is simpler. Snakes can't see through the glass (first of all they are mostly blind but they are able to receive infrared radiation).  To snake the glass is not transparent. Does it mean that glass is not transparent? Obviously, no but for snake it is! (its sensorial reality) but in fact the glass is transparent although snake just can see opaque wall.

And now, there is a shorter example. A man with astigmatism, if that man takes off his glasses he will perceive a blurred reality. In fact, is reality blurred or unfocused? No, but this person perceive the reality in this way because his vision doesn't let him perceive reality clearly.

The philosopher called René Descartes considered the doubt about senses and dreams. In relation with senses, he indicated that senses created illusions and senses were wrong about reality and it was better don't trust them.

Unfortunately, senses are the only gate to the world, we don't have any other way so despite we know they trick us we have to take what they give to us because we don't have anything else.

There is an Indian story that is just right for this topic, it is called "The blinds and the elephant" the story is about three blinds that wanted to know how an elephant was so they touched the animal but they touched different parts of the elephant. One of them touched the ear, another one the trunk and the last one the leg. Then, all together went to the king and tried to explain what an elephant was. They started to argue because they defended their point of views and they didn't come to terms: - The elephant is soft and flat as dough (the blind who touched the ear said) - No. The elephant is flexible and long as a snake (the blind who touched the trunk said) - No, no. The elephant is strong and tough as a rock (the blind who touched the leg said). All have part of reason but they didn't reach the real reality. The complete reality. Their senses just let them reach part of the reality.

I also want to talk about "Allegory of the Cave" by Platon, it is about men who are living into a cave since they were children and they are tied so they just can see the wall that is in front of them. On this wall they can see shadows (to them this is the reality, the shadows on the wall). One of them can escape and he turn his head and see the exit and there he can see people walking (the shadows are a projection of these people). The reality changes for that prisoner. He knows that the reality of shadows is not the complete reality. When he tries to explain the renew reality to his friends they don't believe him and they laugh at him. They think he is mad because the prisoners trust their senses. For the prisoners the reality is the shadows on the wall. Until they perceive the real reality with their own eyes they will not believe anything else.

There are a lot of optic games that show us that our senses trick us (in that case sight) I put a pair as an example but you can find more on Google.

Which is bigger? All have the same size.

Are they spinning? No. They're motionless

Do you still believe that you're perceiving the reality?

Origin of life. Spontaneous generation

I don't know if you've thought about the origin of life, but I want to talk about a theory called spontaneous generation. Do you know what it is? What does spontaneous generation consist of?

Darwin thought that the common origin of all species came from inorganic matter and Aristoteles thought in the same way.

It seems stupid. Isn't it? However a lot of people believe in spontaneous generation without knowing what it is. Imagine, there is a dead animal and maggots come out because of decomposition. Where do the maggots come from? Currently a lot of people think that maggots turn up out of nowhere but in fact maggots are insect's larva. Ask to your friends, I guess a lot of them will tell you: Maggots appear from the cadaver! (Spontaneous generation is an ancient theory, 18th century, it was refuted but it is in force in a lot of minds)

There was a scientist called Jan Baptista van Helmont who decided made an experiment: He put dirty clothes and wheat into a barrel and he waited 21 days, the result is evident: mice. Cause of this he thought that that mixture (dirty clothes + wheat) generated mice. Unfortunately, he didn't prevent the access to the barrel so the mice arrived to the barrel and went into it.

The italian scientist Francesco Redi was more clever and he made an experiment with a piece of meat: Eight jars and eight pieces of meat within, four jars were opened and the other four were closed. He realized that flies went into the opened jars and the maggots appeared but it didn't happen at the four closed jars.

The spontaneous generation's defenders said that the cause was the lack of air, so Redi made again the experiment and he used four jars with gauze covering the entrance (the air could pass but the flies couldn't arrive to the meat) Result: no maggots in the meat but the eggs had been deposited on the gauze (Disgusting!)

Louis Pasteur wanted to do his experiment (19 th century), Redi proved that multicellular beings don't appear spontaneously. What about unicellular beings? Pasteur used two jars with special neck (swan neck) so the air could pass but the microorganisms were deposited on the bottom. He put nutritious broth and he boiled it, nothing happened so he decided to cut the neck of one jar so the microorganisms could access to the broth. Result: the broth was decomposed but the broth into the other jar was intact. So the microorganisms (most of them unicellular) don't appear spontaneously.

Therefore: ALL LIVING BEING COMES FROM ANOTHER LIVING BEING.

Nowadays there is a science called abiogenesis (it studies the arising of life from non-living matter) its objective is to know how life was caused in the Earth (it is another doubt that I want to talk about. I can advance that from my point of view: the origin of live in the Earth is exogenous. Yes, my friends, I believe in exogenesis)

I leave the door opened in order to let you think and research onto origin of life (there are a lot of theories about it, including creationism) How do you think life was created?

Another question that comes to my mind right now... Where does inorganic matter come from? Yes... I know... I know... some of you will say: from the Big Ben, the Origen of Universe (Who believes in this theory) but... before? When the Universe just was a chaotic mass?

Oh yes... we are warming up our minds!

Who is run out of doubts...

We are rational beings and the reasoning is there for being used, it is obvious, there are people that use reasoning more than others... most people that I know live their lives without paying attention to the things that go around them, they are... as I always say...earthly beings.

But there are others, I guess you are one of them because you are reading this blog, that live their lives thinking about things that others are not able to imagine... most of these doubts are unfathomable, they just generate headache, they create more doubts. They make us generate hypothesis and suppositions without basis, these existential doubts are delicious, feed our imagination, set our mind flying and help us to develop our reasoning.

If you are this kind of being, starving of knowledge, let your mind fly away and be able to resolve doubts that you've never considered before. This, my friend, is your kind of blog.
